More Information
Architect and public artist Michaela Mahady conceived and created an etched glass mural, River of Milk, for Iowa State's Dairy Farm Educational Center (located two miles south of central campus). The mural imagery blends dairy production, science, and art to illustrate how dairy products improve human health. The preparatory drawing depicts a herdsman with a calf. Not widely known in urban environment, it is important to realize that in today's dairy production process, new calves are removed from the cow, and herdsmen provide their care. This method increases milk production. There are five additional mural panels that complete the mural cycle.
