O.H. Cessna (1852-1932). In 1901 Professor O.H. Cessna, a member of the first graduating class of Iowa State College in 1872, was made Professor of Philosophy and History and place in charge of the Department of Philosophy in which courses Psychology and Ethics were taught. In 1902 Cessna was appointed as the first College Chaplain and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1929; Cessna earned a Doctor of Divinity degree from the University of Chicago.
