More Information“Winnie Winkle” began in 1920 by Martin Branner who also created “Pete and Pinto” and “Looie the Lawyer,” both of which he discontinued. Winnie was a post-World War I liberated woman who supported her father Rip, her mother, and her little brother Perry. Because Winnie was an attraction for the female audience she wore the latest fashions.
